Founded in1914, Zhejiang Business Technology Institute (ZBTI 浙江工商职业技术学院) has the distinction of being one of the first four full-time public higher vocational colleges approved by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. As such, the college has always been considered an excellent school for evaluating the work level of talent training in higher vocational colleges, as well as a model for higher vocational colleges in Zhejiang Province.

The college's main campus is located in Ningbo, an established commercial and international port city in China's Zhejiang province. With convenient transportation (15 minutes by car to the city's centre, 10 minutes by car to Ningbo railway station, 15 minutes by car to Ningbo Lishe International airport, and 7 minutes by car to Line 1 of Ningbo's subway system), the campus is ideally situated in Ningbo's Haishu district. ZBTI also has two other smaller campuses located in neighbouring Ninghai and Cixi.

The college currently has 14,500 full-time enrolled students and consistently emphasizes guiding students to integrate moral development with technical skills, following the "Five Educational Dimensions" (morality, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor). Over the past five years (2021–2025), students have won 54 national awards (including 8 first prizes) and 761 provincial awards (including 126 first prizes) in Category A science and technology competitions. In the last three years, graduates' career development and talent training quality have consistently ranked among the top higher vocational colleges in the province, with an employment rate exceeding 98%, a student satisfaction rate above 95%, and an employer satisfaction rate exceeding 97%. Over its century-long history, the college has cultivated more than 100,000 outstanding talents in finance, economics, trade, and manufacturing.

The college has a high-quality and well-structured faculty. Currently, it has 109 faculty members with senior professional titles, doctoral degrees, or high-skilled qualifications. Teachers with associate senior professional titles or above account for 35.25% of the total, and "dual-qualified" teachers (possessing both academic and vocational credentials) in specialized courses account for 90.90%.

In total, the college has seven schools, with each school focussed on offering students a number of different majors within their discipline. They are: The School of Economics and Management, the School of E-Commerce, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of International Education, the School of Architecture and Art, the School of Electronic Information, and the School of Mindfulness.

For more than 100 years, ZBTI has adhered to the school motto of Honesty, Career, Wisdom, and Dedication. Our college's philosophy is grounded in our dedication to providing quality-based and service-orientated education with a focus on the classroom as teacher-based and student-orientated. Mindful of its base in the commercial hub of Ningbo, the college aims to carry forward century old traditions of business education while being mindful of the need to adapt to economic and social development. ZBTI is considered to be a modern higher vocational technical college that emphasizes both “industry and business” and meets the needs of local economic and industrialdevelopment.

The college has established a strong domestic and international environment to strengthen co-operation and exchanges with domestic and foreign enterprises, schools, and governments. ZBTI is among the first batch of higher vocational colleges in Zhejiang Province to be approved by the Ministry of Education to carry out Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. It has established international exchanges and cooperation with educational institutions in 35 countries and regions. In 2002, it launched a Sino-Australian cooperative education program with Holmesglen Institute of TAFE in Australia, setting up the Holmesglen Institute Branch and the International Vocational Education Teacher Training Center, and introducing the TAFE education model. The school has received the Best Overseas Teaching Achievement Award and the Outstanding Management Award from the Australian side. The Sino-Australian cooperative international business program was rated as one of the first batch of exemplary Sino-foreign cooperative education programs in the province. In recent years, in response to the national Belt and Road Initiative, the school has jointly established the China-Indonesia Silk Road College with Telkom University in Indonesia, the Overseas College of Live Streaming and Media Studies with Universitas Mercubuana (UMB) in Indonesia, and the China-Croatia Language and Culture Center with the Zor Tourism Management College in Croatia. It has also built a provincial-level platform for Taiwanese youth innovation and entrepreneurship, created the brand of Intangible Cultural Heritage Practice Teaching Base, and cultivated and formed two characteristic cultural practice brands for local international students in Ningbo, namely Ningbo Intangible Cultural Heritage and Perceiving China, as well as the Silk Road ZBTI brand for international cultural exchanges.

The future looks bright as the college looks to advance and continue developing as a high-quality school, equipping students with the education and skills necessary for today’s rapidly changing world.
